Ingredient: Kakadu Plum

What is Kakadu Plum?
The Kakadu Plum, also known as, “billygoat plum” or “green plum”, is a small fruit. It’s found in the Eucalypt open woodlands across northern Australia.
Kakadu contains high levels of vitamin C, 50 times more times than oranges. They’re high in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties and antimicrobial properties. Thankfully, we can all benefit from this amazing product via skincare products! Furthermore, in even better news, it is great for every skin type. This is especially true for blemish-prone skin as this superfruit is high in antioxidants that help to detoxify and cleanse the skin.
Skin benefits
A great source of Vitamin C
It has the highest known natural source of vitamin C; 3,700mg of vitamin C per 100g compared to an Orange which has 53mg per 100g! Vitamin C is essential for healthy-looking and glowing skin. Its properties enable the skin to become firmer; help fades dark spots or even acne blemishes. Furthermore, when used in a natural skin regimen, it works to stimulate collagen, reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
A natural acne fighter
In addition, to its Vitamin C properties, it is a natural acne fighter. As its especially known as an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory, this superfruit helps to restore the skin’s natural barrier. The oil extracted from these plums is ideal for acne-prone skin, which will help to balance the complexion.
It’s full of antioxidants
Due to its growth in remote locations, each plum develops a highly efficient defense mechanism. It’s full of antioxidants. Antioxidants help detoxify the skin whilst fighting radical damage caused by factors such as pollution and sun exposure.
Soothes irritations and sensitivity
If you struggle with hyper-sensitive skin, then Kakadu oil soothes the skin. It contains gallic acid which is a natural anti-inflammatory, helping to reduce redness, irritation, and inflammation.
Favourite Kakadu Product
My favourite KP product is the Gummy Cleanser, from Oilixia. According to their website, it is harvested from a local Australian company; which works very closely with indigenous communities, in Australia’s Kimberly region.
Kakadu has been a part of Australia’s indigenous communities as a food source for centuries. Moreover, it has been a vital ingredient in traditional medicine for various years. The inner bark of the tree is known for its antibacterial properties and to treat skin problems such as infections or scars. Furthermore, their Kakadu Plum practices wild-harvesting, meaning that the fruit is picked at the optimal time in its lifecycle. As a result, this allows the plant to regenerate naturally and sustainably.
