I’m a huge fan of Oilixia. Not too long ago, I use to intern for the founder, Alex. Since then I’ve been obsessed. The brand is currently working on some new releases until then, let’s talk about their best sellers. I’ve already written a review about Oilixia; however, I mainly focused on their Kakadu Plum Gummy Cleanser. In this article, I’m discussing their popular facial oils.
3 Ways to Use Oilixia Facial Oils
Method 1: After Skincare Routine
Since facial oils are for the face (duh! it’s in the name), this is of course, the typical method of application. We’re currently working on an article all about Facial Oils. Until then, here’s a mini how-to on how to apply facial oils.
Step 1: Choose the Best Oil for You.
Oilixia offers two facial oils: Amazonian Cacay and Explorer Blend. The Amazonian Cacay is considered a lightweight formula, best for oily and normal skin. The Explorer Blend is a richer formula, best suited for dry and normal skin. Whichever you end up choosing, there are various ways to use these gems.
Having trouble? Oilixia also has mini-trial sizes to check out. Warning for those with acne skin: some can use it with no problem, but it may not work for others. This is due to the ingredients, always make sure to double-check which ingredients work best for you.
Step 2: Heat Between Fingers
Step 3: Massage After Moisturiser Application
Okay, this is highly debated. However, it’s recommended to apply light oils before moisturisers, and heavier oils after. Oilixia uses very richly, and high-quality ingredients, thus, I believe they are best used after your whole routine is done.
Step 4 (Optional): Using it with a Gua Shua is optional, but it’s my favourite method of application.
This is the most common method and it’s pretty straight forward (DM us if you need help). It’s best to apply at night so it can absorb into your skin, and you can wake up glowing. However, if your skin needs some TLC during the day, apply a drop or two to your favourite moisturiser, before proceeding with an SPF of your choice.
Method 2: Hair Oil
This is my favourite way to use this facial oil. I dyed my hair ages ago, and I’ve been letting the dye, die out naturally (hairstylists, please don’t judge). The process was going smoothly but suddenly, my hair growth stunted. I also didn’t want to cut my hair off, because it’s been taking me longer than usual to grow out. I randomly decided to use Oilixia’s oils because I figured (and hoped) the ingredients would nourish my hair back to life. After using it for about a week, the ends of my hair were suddenly really soft and smooth. It’s now my go-to hair product because it’s just that good!
My method of application is to apply it before I brush it. Sometimes after I brush it, to bring out my waves. Make sure you only apply a small amount on the ends, an oily scalp/hair is no fun!
Method 3: DIY Body Butters
I’ve been absolutely obsessed with making my own body butter. I’ve been glowing ever since I started making my own! I won’t go into too many details here since that’s for another post. However, if you’ve ever DIYed your body butter, you’d know it’s a combination of butter and oils.
After you’ve chosen your solids: Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Mango Butter, or a combination of a few, you can choose some oils to customise the recipe. The common oils are of course Jojoba, Sweet Almond Oil, Vitamin E, etc. During this step, I use Oilixia facial oils or combine it with another oil. Trust me, this mix is heavenly. You can really tell the difference when you include one of Oilixia’s oils into the body butter.
Curious about DIYing your own body butter? One of my favourite recipes is from Diva’s Can Cook. You can research other recipes and use them as a foundation to mix and match your own.
I can’t recommend Oilixia’s products enough. She put so much time and effort into perfecting her formulas and it really shows. If you’d like to try Oilixia, we have a 20% off discount code. We were not paid into making this post, and we don’t currently accept paid posts. If you’d like access to the discount code, please DM us on Insta or e-mail us.
